GEMINI - MAY 20 - JUNE 20

In our GRD newsletters provide information and pointers for maintaining optimum health and well-being, based on Oriental, Yogic, Ayurvedic and Astrological healing arts. Each month when the sun changes astrological signs, the energy of the planet shifts to clear and heal one of the 12 main energy circuits or meridians of the human body.

The astrological sign of Gemini rules during our current time period. Gemini governs the stomach meridian, affecting reflex points in the neck, arms and shoulders. The related emotion is anxiety. Gemini attitudes tend to be either all-embracing or exclusive and picky.

Here are some tips for keeping healthy during Gemini:

  1. Yellow is the color for Gemini and the stomach meridian. Wear yellow, especially yellow stones such as amber, citrine, and yellow tourmaline.
  2. Eat yellow vegetables and fruits: corn on the cob, yellow squash, papaya, mango, banana, cantaloupe, etc.
  3. In case of stomach upset or virus take 3 capsules of 9R herb combination twice daily. Also Po Chai Chinese herb is helpful for nausea.
  4. To adjust the stomach meridian, do Yoga Mudra for 3-11 minutes:

    Yoga mudra: Sit on the heels. Place the hands in venus lock behind the back. Lean forward and gradually bring the forehead to the ground. Raise the arms straight up to 90°, maintaining the position to maximum ability. Hold for at least 3 minutes.

  5. To strengthen the stomach and improve digestion, try Nauli Kriya:

    Be sure your stomach is empty. Stand with feet shoulder width apart, bend slightly forward and place hands on thighs. Inhale deeply, exhale completely, hold air out and pump the stomach by squeezing the navel in and back towards the spine, then releasing - it is a rapid motion done as many times as possible before inhaling. Continue for 3 minutes each morning.

  6. Kali Mur. is the cell salt for Gemini and the stomach meridian. Hylands brand is preferred; follow directions on the bottle.
  7. To balance and energize the stomach meridian, release anxiety, or relieve nausea, hold alternate thumbs 2-3 minutes each.
  8. For the summer solstice shift, adjust the magnetic field of the blood by taking 10 capsules of 3R herb combination 3 times daily for 3 consecutive days between June 15th and 25th.

Interrupted or imbalanced stomach meridian flow can cause:

addictive behavior food aversions
depression digestive problems
obsessiveness stuffy nose and sinusitis

In Eastern traditions the full moon will represent the meridian to be balanced and clear and will be in the astrological sign 180° opposite the current sun sign.

The full moon on June 18th will be in the sign of Sagittarius and affects the pericardium meridian. Focus on keeping the life nerve or sciatic nerve stretched - all muscles along the life nerve are controlled by the pericardium meridian. Eat cucumbers or drink cucumber juice - cucumbers contain silica, the cell salt for the pericardium meridian.

Full moon in Sagittarius provides an opportunity to develop the visionary power by doing Archer Pose. Archer Pose also stretches the chest and arms, and the life nerve in the back of the legs:

ARCHER POSE:

Stand with the right leg bent forward so the knee is over the toes. The left leg is straight back with the foot flat on the ground, at a 45° angle to the front foot. Raise the right arm straight out in front, parallel to the ground and make a fist as if grasping a bow. Pull the left arm back as if pulling the bowstring back to the shoulder. Feel a tension across the chest. Face forward and fix the eyes above the fist to the horizon. Hold the position 3 to 5 minutes, then switch legs and arms and repeat.
